Fufu and Oreos. At Calderwood Pavilion, Boston Center for the Arts, through February 27.
Multiple talent Obehi Janice evokes her rich Nigerian heritage as well as her on-going engagement with the challenges and possibilities of America in her fascinating and wide-ranging personal solo work “Fufu & Oreos.” In exploring her own dreams and aspirations, she paints a vivid tableau about South East Nigeria, the Edo language and her very different, conflict-ridden parents in an insightful narrative by turns humorous, dramatic and ultimately moving. Under the understated direction of Rebecca Bradshaw, yam-rich Fufu and creme favorite Oreos make an inspired if unlikely combination – one that Janice turns into both a metaphor for understanding and respect.

I look into review-blogs to see what’s new, and since I check a lot of them, I expect the Newest to be loaded-in at the top.
But the top review here is old (“Fufu & Oreos” has already closed); the new review of a just-opened play is below, sandwiched between the “Fufu” review and your Oldest trilogy of reviews.
It’s Your blog, but it’s a New blog, and maybe it needs a little tweaking?
Break a leg!

Larry, thanks. We’re posting asap. We’ll look into re-ordering the postings so the “active” plays are on top. Good point, of course. (Lee Goodwin)
